“No I Won’t and I’m About To Tell You Why Not…..”
Despite all the nagging by our English teachers to avoid using the wrong there/their/they’re, many of us arrive into adulthood with mediocre writing skills. Sadly that also includes the many people who proclaim they can send a flood of business your way with cheap writing.
The truth is that cheap is NOT good.
Cheap stuff breaks down quickly, can’t resist normal wear and tear, and in the case of your online website will send your potential customers straight into the welcoming arms of your competitors.
However you’re here because you’re not wholly convinced that a wordsmith is just as essential as a website designer or even your janitor. Writers deserve their reputations for the most part, but I believe you should give the good writers a chance.
After all, I am one. Now let me show you why that’s so……
Here’s Why Bad Writing Costs You Money
Simply put bad writing costs you money! Bad writing will not keep faces hypnotized during a television show (like Game of Thrones!), and it will not keep ears glued to their Apple headphones.
In online writing, it’s my job and every other writer’s job to get articles and sales letters read. But sadly, this is not invested in as heavily as SEO, a website design, or a bookkeeper.
This is a crazy mistake anyone business owner could make!
That’s because after you pay the $1000 a month to get organic traffic from Google to your $3500 wordpress site loaded to the teeth with contact forms, retargeting pixels, and call tracking numbers….
There must be something for your audience to watch or read! That is unless someone’s broken a tooth or has an oak tree that’s fallen in their living room or any other emergency.
You’re looking at good writing right now as I’m entertaining you and stringing you along through my web of adverbs and adjectives.
Yes I’m indulging myself a tad because I must take on the voice of you, the owner or the webmaster, when I’m being hired to do your work.
This is also what separates myself from most other writers……
What Makes The Writing “Good”
Putting sentences together, and being able to know when to use a word like “gander” doesn’t make some an adequate copywriter however. No sir (or mam).
It actually takes the ability to learn about your business, and then package all the details in a way where your intended audience (and perfect customer) can learn how great your products or services really are.
A good writer will often perform the following tasks:
- They’ll actually use your products to see them in action and be able to tell a story about it
- Speaking of stories, they can use drama, dialogue, and suspense in even the most “boring” businesses to make your customer scramble for their wallet for the solution you provide
- They research! They’ll interview you, your best customers, and even read books about your subject to create a credible sales pitch or article for their site
- Good writing is interesting, thought provoking, and if the situation is right, entertaining. To do that, they must immerse themselves in what you do and that’s what I believe that I bring to my clients.
Simply put, a $2 an article writer will not only struggle with the English language, but also struggle to tie in all the necessary details, background, and bullet points to persuade the skeptical website visitor to stay and consider your offer.
An expensive writer is also aware of your sales pitch and best offers. Which brings up my next point…….
The Parts That Makes It Sell
“What A Horrible Idea……”
The thing you probably care about the most (and should care about the most) when hiring a writer is whether they’ve successfully conveyed the best offer possible in print form.
Some niches don’t need much, while some need more work to separate themselves from all the other chiropractors within the next 3 miles.
A good writer is going to help your reader imagine what you’re going to do for them, how it’s going to make their lives better, and how their money is going to be well spent. To do this they must work with you or your staff, and not a lot of online writers want to do that unfortunately.
As an added plus, a good online writer will understand many of the best practices of conversion optimization and content strategy. These are the disciplines within internet marketing that help us determine what sort of content works best with a particular audience, how to layout and format an article to help it get read, and then determine how to help that visitor move towards becoming a lead. They will understand how to get someone on your site to pick up the phone or fill out a form!
We Strive To Learn About Your Market
So far I’ve helped a florist sell bacon scented yankee candles.
I’ve taken helped a page dedicated to an SEC football grow by playing out the drama over changes in coaching staff and player injuries and potential all star recruits signing a commitment letter.
And I’ve also helped a local carpet cleaner explain on their site why their bacterial enzyme digester will erase the pet stains much better than the grocery story brand could.
How can a dentist sell his services online if the writer can’t properly explain how to justify the cost of a simple tooth extraction compared to a surgical tooth extraction?
How will a lawyer help their website visitors understand if they need a will or a probate if the writer won’t take the time to explain their difference?
And how will a cosmetic surgeon get more appointments without the writer alleviating the fears that come with undergoing a face lift, a nose job, or liposuction amongst other services?
To make your visitors stay and read your content, you must invest in a writer who is ready and willing to go the extra distance to create a piece that makes sales.
And thankfully, you’ve found a great writer to help out! Now I’m not cheap, but my rates are fair and my quality doesn’t disappoint anyone.
